How we got the name ‘Guru-Ganga’?
The name of the house was 'Shiba Dham' during the time of Late Tinkari Bhattacharjee & Late Shibarani Devi. Later the name 'Guru Ganga' was given by Thakur Sri Sri Bhajan Brahmachari Baba. Since 'Guru Ganga' is situated very near to River Ganga at Dakshineswar; thus Disciples & Devotees will get to see their ‘Guruji’ after having a holy bath in River Ganga.
Our Guruji always expressed the thought of making an old age home to help peoples who are seeking shelter. After the Tirodhan (death) of guruji, in the year 1997 we [Sri Sukumar Bhattacharjee & Smt Protima Bhattacharjee] started giving shelter at a very low cost at our residential housing complex that sooner named as 'Sri Sri Lokenath Bridhyashram [Guru Ganga]'. Since then, we (Guru-Ganga alias ‘Sri Lokenath Bridhyasram’) served the best possible things to our Old Home Members and thus within few years we became the best old age homes in north Kolkata offering excellent foods & homely atmosphere.Guru-Ganga Old Age Home Dakshineswar, trade license holder, has lush green campus of 1-acre with 20-bedded accommodation facility for everyone whether physically or mentally fit or unfit.
